Feature Summary |

|
Message Personalization |
Various parts of the message can be personalized
with "G-Merge", a powerful language that can manipulate data in
almost any way conceivable. The versatility of G-Merge at
generating complex personalized emails is unparalleled. Here
is a partial list of G-Merge's features:
- Complete database connectivity
- IF-statements
- Variables
- Loops
- Mathematical expressions
- Date calculations
- File I/O
- Extensive function library
G-Merge can be used to
personalize the text body, HTML body, attachment list, From, To,
Reply-To, CC, BCC, subject, and HTML embedded
images.
Conditional statements can control the presence of
entire paragraphs of text. Here is an example of a message
that uses a conditional body:
Dear [[FirstName]],
[[if product_id =
1005]]Thank you for purchasing a widget.[[else]]Thank you for
ordering a gadget.[[endif]]
A package should arrive by
[[order_date + 30]]

Database Support |
Gammadyne Mailer works with virtually all
databases, including Access, dBASE, FoxPro, Oracle, MySQL, and SQL
Server. Database data can personalize the message body for
each recipient. A piece of data can be inserted at any point
in the message by simply enclosing the column name in double
brackets. For example, if the database table has a column
called "FirstName", then the string "[[FirstName]]" can be inserted
anywhere in the message body. Gammadyne Mailer will
automatically pull the data from the database and insert it into the
message.
Clauses can exclude certain recipients based on
database values. For advanced users, you can even specify your
own SQL WHERE clause.
Of course, a database is not
required. Gammadyne Mailer can send to a list of email address
in a plain ASCII text file. It can even merge in data from a
comma-separated text file, like this for example:
id,name,email,age 1,John
Public,jpublic@foo.com,26 2,Jane Doe,jane@bar.com,30 3,Jim
Smith,jsmith@foobar.com,28
|
|
HTML Support |
The message body can be either plain text or HTML,
or both. If the end-user's email client cannot handle HTML, it
will automatically display the text body instead. HTML can be
used to create very attractive messages, complete with formatted
text, embedded graphics, and scripts.
The HTML body can be
personalized with G-Merge, including personalized images.
Images in the HTML body can be automatically detected and included
in the email. |
|
List Management |
Several tools are provided to help manage the
mailing list, whether it is located in a database, file, or in the
project:
- Add recipient
- Change address
- Remove recipient
- Remove duplicate addresses
- Remove illegal addresses
- Address verification
These tools can be enormously
helpful in managing large mailing lists. |
|
Automatic Incoming Email
Processing |
Gammadyne Mailer can automatically process
virtually any type of incoming email, including bounce-backs,
sign-ups, and opt-outs. Here are just a few of the things it
is capable of:
- Data can be extracted from the incoming email and added to a
new row in the database.
- Incoming email addresses can be added or removed from the
database, recipient list, or exclusion list.
- Criteria can be set to ignore messages that do not contain a
particular keyword in the header, subject, or body.
- The "Auto-Responder" feature can
automatically send a reply to all incoming messages that meet the
criteria.
- Incoming emails can be forwarded to a different mailbox.
- A script of G-Merge statements can be executed when an
incoming message is processed. This allows a different
action to be taken based on the contents of the subject, for
example.
- Duplicate sign-ups can be ignored.

Command Line Control |
Command line support can automate the addition and
removal of recipients and exclusions, as well as send
messages. The command line parameters can specify an explicit
email address, or it can be acquired from the clipboard. By
creating desktop shortcuts to the command line operations, routine
tasks can be made as simple as a mouse click.
The following
settings can be overridden on the command line: From, To,
Reply-To, Subject, CC, BCC, text body file, HTML body file, and the
database WHERE clause.
Command line mailings can also be
initiated using a "Pseudo-Project", which contains
all the information needed to perform a mailing.
Pseudo-projects are plain ASCII text, which means they can be easily
generated by another program or script. Click here to
see an example of a pseudo-project. |
|
Direct Delivery |
Gammadyne Mailer can optionally act as a mail
server, eliminating the need to send email through an ISP's mail
server. This feature is known as "Direct Delivery". Click here
for a complete article on Direct Delivery. |
|
Multi-Threading |
Gammadyne Mailer has the ability to send up to 64
emails simultaneously. This feature is known as
"multi-threading" or "multi-tasking", and can greatly increase the
speed of the send operation.
Multi-threading allows you to
send mail so fast, your mail server may not be able to handle
it. Luckily, you can use the "Direct
Delivery" feature to bypass your mail server and deliver each
email directly to the recipient. |
|
Message Preview |
Messages can be previewed, edited, and deleted
before they are sent. The preview displays exactly what is
going out, and to whom. The preview also permits manual
personalization of select messages. The "Test Send" option can
send one of the messages to your own email address. |
|
Multiple Personalized
Attachments |
Files of any type, quantity, or size can be
attached to each message. The attachment file list can be
automatically personalized using G-Merge, or manually personalized
on the preview window. In addition, Gammadyne Mailer will let
you build the contents of attachments with G-Merge. Hence, you
can personalize not just which attachments are included for each
recipient, but the contents of each attachment as well. |
|
Additional Features |
- Works with all versions of Windows® 95, 98, NT, 2000, ME, and
XP.
- Comma or tab separated text files can be used in lieu of a
database to specify recipients and personalized data.
- If the messages are not personalized, a single message can
address multiple recipients. Because the number of messages
delivered is a small fraction of the number of recipients, this
greatly speeds up the operation. This is sometimes referred
to as "BCC Mode".
- The date and time a message is successfully sent can be stored
in a database column. Recipients who received a message
after a certain date can be excluded from future mailings.
Alternatively, each time a message is successfully sent, the
recipient can be automatically added to the exclusion list.
These features help ensure that a recipient does not receive a
message twice, even after a mailing has been interrupted.
- Members of the mailing list have complete anonymity - they
will not be able to see each others email addresses.
- Specific domains, user names, and email addresses can be
excluded from the mailing.
- The mailing can be performed in sections by specifying a
starting and ending index.
- A throttle can be used to limit the sending speed.
- The mailing can be delayed until a particular time.
- The mailing can be repeated continuously at a particular
interval.
- The mailing list can be cleaned of all illegal, blank,
duplicate, or nonexistent addresses.
- Pages can be fetched from the Internet and inserted into the
text or HTML body.
- Mail can be sent over multiple SMTP servers, distributing the
load evenly.
- The HTML body can be omitted for certain domains or certain
recipients.
- A different script of G-Merge statements can be executed
depending on the success or failure of each sending attempt.
- Before and after the mailing, you may execute a batch of
MS-DOS commands and/or a G-Merge script.
- The system address book can be used as a source of recipients.
- Gammadyne Mailer can perform the duties of a List-Server
(a.k.a. Discussion Group). When an incoming email is
received, it will be remailed to everyone on the list. In
addition, there is an option to prevent non-members from posting
messages.
- Before the mailing, custom windows can prompt the user for
information that will affect the entire mailing. The custom
windows can contain any arrangement of text, checkboxes,
editboxes, and buttons.
- A user name and password can be provided if the SMTP server
requires authentication. Also, Gammadyne Mailer can log in
to a POP3 server before sending email if this is required for
authentication.
- Wizards will help configure a project for mailings,
bounce-back processing, opt-out processing, sign-up processing,
and list-serving.
- Gammadyne Mailer is a self-contained software package that
does not require other software or any service from Gammadyne
Software.
- All of the program's settings can be stored in a "project"
file for retrieval at a later time. There is no limit to the
number of project files you can have.
